About me I specialise in the areas of art, media, current affairs, culture and politics, sociology and anthropology as well as a broad range of business related subjects.
My research skills are very sharp and as a result my work is very reliable and accurate. Currently I am working towards a Ph.D. degree in Sociology (Soviet Cinema and its importance during the period 1965-75) at the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London.
As an translator and interpreter, I have worked on various publications, journals, newspapers, catalogues, poetry books, films, dubbing, subtitling, voice-overs, and have interpreted at various film festivals (Cannes, Rotterdam, Cairo, Los Angeles Washinton, D.C.) conferences, conventions and business meetings.
My professional language is English, and my source languages are French (completely bilingual), Arabic (native level), Armenian (native level), Italian and Turkish (source languages). I can also translate into French and Armenian like a native skeaker, having lived and worked in France for over 12 years and having been born of Armenian parents.
My accomplishements include:
1. Translations of film scripts, publicity and press packages and various related publications for: Last Station, Haifa, Histoires d'Armenie, le Neflier, The Way Back, Al Awda, The Colour of Pomegranates.
2. Translations of poetry: An anthology of Armenian Poetry: SOJOURN AT ARARAT,a book of poems: SARE, NEW: Forgotten Genocides of the 20th Century.
3. Translations of stage plays: On the Couch (Sur le Dicvan- for French Radio), Io Donna Immigrata (IT-EN), and Nannto, Nannto (Various).
4. Treatises on Kurdish history and people from Arabic into English.
5. Websites and related texts from Arabic into English.
6. Various academic articles for reviews and entries for newspapers - English, Arabic, French, Armenian and Italian.
7. Business manuals, catalogues, user manuals, and patent registrations. Various languages.
8. Publications and brochures for the Ministry of Culture of Armenia, for Egyptian Television and for French companies such as L'Oreal, EDF, Solvay, Galderma, CRDT, etc.
9. Legal and judicial depositions for US the Department of Justice and for private law firms.
My translation prices are: $100/ 3 pages or fraction thereof (minimum) and I do interpreting on a half-daily or daily rate. For most interpretation assignments prices vary based on occasion, language pair and location (ask for estimate).
